What is a no fuss funeral?
A no fuss funeral is for those wanting a more modern, simpler funeral without the ceremonial elements often associated with a traditional funeral. A no fuss funeral can help minimise funeral costs and provide more choices when it comes to arranging a send-off or ceremony for your loved one, in comparison to a more traditional funeral.
At Simplicity, we realise that not everyone wants a costly and traditional funeral and instead some would prefer a simpler affair. That’s why our no fuss funerals allow you to arrange a dignified, respectful funeral for a loved one, without the ceremonial excess that is unwanted and unnecessary to many.
We offer three funeral options, which allow you to commemorate your loved one’s life in a way that is right for you and your family.
Why choose a no fuss funeral?
Despite a no fuss funeral costing considerably less than a traditional funeral, for many, the decision is not driven by price. A growing number of people are requesting this type of funeral before they pass away, to make the funeral arrangement process easier for their loved ones after they’re gone.
Some of the reasons people choose a simpler, no fuss funeral over a traditional funeral include:
- Your loved one expressed their wishes for a low-key funeral
- You want to arrange a funeral with just a small group of family and friends present
- You want the flexibility to arrange a family-led funeral service or hold a celebration of life or memorial service, at a time and place away from the crematorium
- You do not want to go through the stressful arrangements or financial strain, often associated with arranging a more traditional funeral
- You are looking for a dignified yet low cost funeral option, without compromising on the quality of care
Whatever the reason, we can help guide you through the process and keep things straightforward, without cutting any corners. Whilst our prices are considerably less than you would expect to pay for a traditional funeral, rest assured you and your loved one will receive the highest level of care and service.
How much does a no fuss funeral cost?
At Simplicity, our no fuss funerals cost from just £995. That’s up to 76%* less than the average funeral cost in the UK in 2019. As part of our funeral costs, we provide all of the practical and essential elements of a cremation; all of our funerals include cremation fees and doctor’s fees, provision of a simple coffin, transportation of the deceased in a specialised funeral vehicle and care at our quality mortuary facilities.
We’ve removed some of the more expensive, ceremonial elements often associated with a traditional funeral, such as hearses, limousines and teams of pallbearers, which means we can provide our services for much less than a traditional funeral director.
Our no fuss funerals allow you the freedom and flexibility to say goodbye to your loved one in a way that suits you and your family. Depending on your definition of a ‘no fuss funeral’, one of the following options may be what you are looking for:
Unattended Funeral – a direct cremation without any mourners present
If for you, a no fuss funeral means you’d prefer not to attend the crematorium, our Unattended Funeral might be the right option. The committal takes place supervised by a qualified chapel attendant, without a service beforehand and without any mourners present. For many families, choosing a direct cremation releases the time pressures often associated with a traditional funeral, giving them more time to arrange a celebration of life or memorial service, at a later date.

Intimate Funeral – a short funeral for a small group of family and friends to attend
Our Intimate Funeral provides a short time in the crematorium chapel for a small group of family and friends. This offers enough time to say a few words and say goodbye to your loved one, without the need to organise a funeral service. If your loved one requested just a no fuss funeral but you would feel uncomfortable if you did not have the opportunity to attend the crematorium, this may suit your needs.

Family Led Funeral – a cremation with a family-led service, for an unlimited number of attendees
If you would like the opportunity to organise a personalised ceremony, our Family Led Funeral provides a full-length slot in the crematorium chapel, for you to arrange a service as you wish. Some families opt for engaging with the services of a minister or officiant and organise a service in the way you would with a traditional funeral, whereas others prefer to do something a little less formal, such as spending the time playing a collection of their loved one’s favourite songs and sharing happy memories.

How can I arrange a no fuss funeral?
Arranging a no fuss funeral with Simplicity is a simple, straightforward process. All of the arrangements are made over the telephone by our expert team of funeral arrangers. Unlike arranging a traditional funeral, you will not have to visit a funeral home, or for several meetings with a funeral director.
It’s easy to get in touch; you can call us on 0800 484 0260 or complete our contact us form, and we’ll get back to you shortly. During the first phone call, we’ll take the key information that we need to start the arrangements for your loved one’s funeral.
No fuss funeral plans
If you like the idea of a no fuss funeral for yourself, you may be interested in a prepaid funeral plan. A prepaid funeral plan will allow you to plan and pay for your funeral in advance, protecting your loved ones from rising funeral costs, as well as ensuring your funeral is carried out according to your wishes for a no fuss funeral.
Just like our funeral packages, our prepaid funeral plans cover all of the necessary elements for a no fuss funeral, any time in the future. When the funeral plan is needed, your family only need to make a single phone call and we will begin the arrangement process straightaway.
